Yes its true. The black market of the 1760's and 1800's saw sa bit if forgien weapons traded, expecially cannons beleive it or not. With that illeigal trade going on some added their own features to those illeigal weapons, thus japanse illeigal wrapons o vaiations were born. Trading illeigal weapons was punishible by death until the Meiji era whee Private companies could sell to the Japanese government directly.
